Mission Statement:
Using over 30 years of knowledge, experience, and passion to help horses and riders to better communicate with each other to create a harmonious and winning team, using classical dressage combined with natural horsemanship.
Training Program:
The focus of my program is teaching lessons and clinics, restructuring training programs, and teaching horses and riders solid flatwork for the jumper, hunter, or dressage ring. Years of experience in classical dressage and natural horsemanship, along with my T-M-B Method, help horses and riders to advance and reach their goals.
My lessons are custom designed to meet you and your horse’s needs; often riders schedule mini-clinics over a two or three day period, with intensive theory and practice sessions on and off the horse. If your current program is not working out for you, I am happy to help you find new ways to communicate with your horse and reach your goals.
If you find yourself needing more bit and having to resort to excessive lunging or devices like draw reins or drugs to make you horse compliant or competitive, try my T-M-B Method – you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.Location:
Trakai Farm is a private 51 acre facility located outside of Hillsborough, NC with 8 stalls, a 230x130 all-weather outdoor ring, huge pastures, and riding trails.
About Me:
I was born in Germany and started riding when I was 7 years old. At the age of 12, I passed the national test for young riders with a bronze medal, allowing me to compete at A-level horse shows. The test consisted of a 1.10 meter jumper course and a dressage test, as well as an oral and written test about horsemanship, knowledge of aids, and their application.
I moved to the US in 1981. Three years later, together with a partner, I started Foxmoor Farms. Besides managing this 30 horse facility, I taught lessons, rode, and showed in the hunters and jumpers. In 1989, I moved to Tacoma, Washington and took over the management, riding, and teaching at Brookwood Stables. After that facility was sold, I relocated to Gig Harbor and started HarborBrook stables. Besides having an extensive school horse program, I continued to bring along young horses and riders, as well as compete in the Grand Prix Jumper ring on a thoroughbred gelding I had rescued from the killers and trained to that level.
It was in Tacoma that I met my husband, who was serving in the US Army Rangers. We were married in 1994 and moved to Warsaw, Poland, where we lived until 1997. I continued to teach, train, and show. While in Poland, I also began to buy young hunters and jumpers to train and sell. Unfortunately, ten moves in the next thirteen years while my husband was in the military, made it nearly impossible for me to continue a customer-based riding and training business.
To continue pursuing my passion for horses, I had to change my focus from mostly training riders and taking them to horse shows to training and selling young horses. I have owned, trained, and sold many horses over the past decade, most of which continued on to have very successful careers in the United States.
Due to genetic osteoarthritis, my hips had to be replaced in 2002; I also had a three level back fusion, as well as a knee replacement in 2014. My hips needed to be revised again in 2015. As a result, I am no longer able to compete in the upper levels of the jumpers and hunters. My focus has now turned to teaching lessons and clinics, restructuring training programs, and teaching horses and riders solid flatwork for jumping, based on my extensive knowledge and years of experience in classical dressage and natural horsemanship.
I also continue to be a student myself and attend clinics with accomplished riders and trainers, including George Morris, Jeff Cook, Joe Fargis, and Mclain Ward, to name a few in the Hunter Jumper world. I have also worked with Buck Brannaman and continue to work with Jim Thomas on a regular basis. As part of my ongoing education, I have also obtained my “r” judging license for Hunters and Equitation.
